How to use

Pick floor, wall, or both. Enter room dimensions in metres.

Pick the tile size — most UAE porcelain comes in 60×60 cm or 80×80 cm. Wall tiles are often 30×60 cm.

Pick the laying pattern. Diagonal and herringbone need more waste (15%) than straight (10%) due to extra cuts.

The result shows total tiles including waste, plus how many boxes (at common box sizes).

Order an extra 5-10% on top for future replacement of cracked tiles. Tile batches change colour over time.

Straight layout in a square/rectangular room: 10%. Diagonal or herringbone: 15%. Rooms with lots of cuts (around toilets, kitchen islands, irregular shapes): 20%. Mosaic or pattern matching: 25-30%. The buffer covers cut waste AND breakage during installation.
Yes — order 1-2 extra boxes beyond what the calculator says. Tile manufacturers change batches; even the same model can shift in colour by 1-2 shade levels between production runs. Without spares, a future cracked tile may be unmatchable. Spare boxes also let you replace tiles if you renovate later.
Floor: 60×60 cm porcelain is the dominant size for villas and apartments. 80×80 cm in newer luxury units. Wall: 30×60 cm or 25×40 cm for bathrooms. Outdoor/balcony: 30×30 cm anti-slip. Custom sizes (rectangular planks for wood-look, 120 cm tiles) are increasing in higher-end builds.
Mid-range ceramic: AED 25-50 per m² (Dragon Mart wholesale). Standard porcelain: AED 50-100/m². Premium porcelain (Italian, Spanish brands): AED 150-400/m². Natural stone (marble, travertine): AED 200-1500/m². Add 30-50% for fitting if hiring a contractor.
Square tiles are cheaper, faster to lay, and easier to calculate. Rectangular tiles (e.g. 30×60 cm) hide imperfect walls better and visually stretch a room (longer side along the short wall of a room makes it look bigger). For floors in 2026 UAE, rectangular plank-style tiles are trending for wood-look interiors.
